Dallas ISD Expands Program to Recruit More Latino Male Teachers

Dallas ISD is expanding an initiative called the Adjunct Teacher Dallas Residency Program to recruit more Latino male teachers.
DISD has around 150,000 students and about 70% population is made up of Hispanic/Latino students.

All the research shows that if you have someone that looks like you, someone that you know you can relate to and talks like you and can understand you and maybe grew up, you know, in the same circumstances that you did, you have a higher rate of success, said DISD Deputy Chief of Human Capital Management, John Vega.
