Port Phillip Council, in partnership with the Accommodation Association, has launched ‘Stay and Play Port Phillip’ packages, offering discounts and bonuses on selected accommodation and activities until 28 February 2021.
Mayor Louise Crawford said the ‘Stay and Play’ packages are the perfect way to reset and recharge for 2021. ....

AS 2020 has been a year like no other, we look back at how life unfolded for the town over the past 12 months and revisit some of the top stories from the year.
JANUARY brought with it the closure of a much-loved and long-standing staple of the local area – Newman’s shoe shop.
The store closed after 126 years serving the town from its home in Crowthorne’s High Street. Owners said it was a sad choice but one made due to many people opting to shop online.

Lime rolls out fleet of 400 dockless share bikes in Melbourne's inner city suburbs

Two new electric vehicle charging stations recently installed at the South Melbourne Market rooftop carpark are being partly powered by solar panels.
The City of Port Phillip has invested $150,000 in the chargers, which are compatible with all electric vehicles and are free to use.
“As more and more people opt for electric vehicles, it’s important to provide the infrastructure to support this fantastic environmentally-friendly choice,” said Port Phillip Mayor Louise Crawford.
No further information was provided on the chargers, but judging by the image above they may be EO units. ....

Electric vehicle charging stations spark change at South Melbourne Market

Two free electric vehicle charging stations have been installed at the South Melbourne Market rooftop carpark, providing residents and visitors with a convenient location to recharge their cars in Port Phillip.
Council has invested $150,000 in the charging stations, which will be powered in part by the 612 solar panels on the roof of South Melbourne Market. The charging stations are compatible with all electric vehicles and models.
With transport accounting for 16.25 per cent of the Port Phillip community’s carbon emissions, electric vehicles, when powered by renewable energy, can significantly reduce this figure. In addition to carbon emissions, traditional vehicles cause air pollution. ....
