A DRIVER who parked in Britannia Place in Old Town was issued with a fine despite him having paid for a ticket. Gary Price, who lives in Moredon, paid the £1 option thinking it would give him two hours of parking because the sign board at the car park says that amount buys between one and two hours’ parking up to 5.59pm. But when he returned there was a penalty notice on his car, after he spoke to one of the wardens in the area he was told if he appealed it then it would be cancelled. Swindon Borough Council says the machine in Britannia Place doesn’t allow buying two hours across the tariff threshold, and Mr Price should have paid 70p for parking up to 5.59pm and then £1 for two hours after 6pm. ....
