The city of St. Louis will pay $5 million dollars to a Black police officer who was beaten by several other officers while at a protest in 2017.
St. Louis Police detective Luther Hall filed a lawsuit against the city in 2019, alleging he was assaulted by colleagues who beat him while he was working undercover during a street protest over the acquittal of an officer who’d been charged with murdering a Black man in 2011.
The settlement agreement was signed by Mayor Lyda Krewson, Lt. Col. Lawrence O’Toole and Sgt. Joseph Marcantano, KSDK reported Monday. The city has 45 days to pay Hall. ....

ST. LOUIS The City of St. Louis will pay $5 million to a Black officer who was assaulted in 2017 by white officers while working undercover during a protest, according to multiple sources familiar with the agreement.
Officer Luther Hall was working undercover during the protests that followed the acquittal of a police officer who had been charged with the 2011 murder of a Black drug suspect. ....

U.S. Attorney Jeff Jensen announces he's resigning post | Law and order


ST. LOUIS — Jeff Jensen, the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri, will resign his post Dec. 30 after three years leading the region’s federal prosecutors, his office announced Thursday.
Jensen’s resignation comes ahead of the anticipated departure of many leading federal prosecutors across the country as the new administration of President-elect Joe Biden prepares to take office.
Jensen will be replaced by acting U.S. Attorney Sayler Fleming.
Jensen was not available for comment Thursday, a spokesman said. He plans on joining a private law firm in the St. Louis area after leaving the federal ranks. ....
