After a year of construction and roadwork to replace sewer lines on the street, she says she s hot-headed over something else. We take a lot of pride in our neighborhood, and everybody tries to take good care of their yards and the streets and everything else, and they left us with tree lawns that are uneven and unplanted, and the curbs are just horrendous, explained Demich. After 109 years, the Salvation Army is closing its West Pittston branch and merging with its Wilkes-Barre chapter. The organizationâs building on Luzerne Avenue was demolished in March and the charity has been operating out of a temporary rented location in Pittston City. âWe no longer have a building,â said Major Edgar George Jr., the Salvation Armyâs general secretary based in Philadelphia. âFrom a financial standpoint, it makes sense to consolidate.â George promised the residents previously served by the Salvation Army could expect the same level of services since the combined headquarters in Wilkes-Barre is only several miles away. ....

COVID-19 guidelines will be in effect for meetings. Members should practice social distancing and wear masks. The fire/safety education committee will have information about concussions and the effect on fire and EMS responders. The information will be derived from numerous sources, including fire engineering, Facebook and the NFPA, along with information from the NFL and doctoral research.
