Bill would apply to ITEP and other state tax incentive programs

House lawmakers on Thursday voted 59-38 for a bill that would change the public records law to allow the state economic development agency to hide certain corporate tax incentive records from the public.
House Bill 456, sponsored by Rep. Rick Edmonds (R-Baton Rouge), proposes to make an exception to Louisiana’s public records law for certain records under the Louisiana Economic Development (LED) tax incentive programs, including the Industrial Tax Exemption Program, Louisiana Quality Jobs Program and Louisiana Enterprise Zone Program.

At the Port of New Orleans, Lineage Logistics will invest $42 million to expand its Jourdan Road cold-storage facility in New Orleans East, where it plans to create 50 new direct jobs. Company plans $42M state-supported expansion in New Orleans East
Lineage Logistics will build a $42 million expansion of its Jourdan Road cold-storage facility in New Orleans East, officials announced Tuesday.
The company plans to expand its cold-storage complex along the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal from 160,000 square feet to 304,000 square feet, retaining 188 existing jobs and creating an estimated 50 new direct maritime and warehousing jobs with an expected average annual pay of $61,000 plus benefits. Louisiana Economic Development estimated the project indirectly will create an additional 56 new jobs.
The state is providing $10 million in capital outlay funds, while the Port of New Orleans is providing $2 million and Lineage Logistics is investing the remaining $30 million in capital for the cold-storage project, officials said. The company also is expected to utilize Louisianaâs Quality Jobs Program.

LA (STL.News) Gov. John Bel Edwards announced International-Matex Tank Terminals, a North American leader in bulk-liquids handling and storage, will retain and expand its headquarters in New Orleans. By the end of 2021, IMTT will make a $1.3 million capital investment to expand its 400 Poydras Plaza headquarters, and by 2022 the company will create 42 new direct jobs with an average annual salary of $133,000, plus benefits.
The project will bring IMTT’s headquarters employment to 87 in the Central Business District of New Orleans.
