House lawmakers on Thursday voted 59-38 for a bill that would change the public records law to allow the state economic development agency to hide certain corporate tax incentive records from the public.
House Bill 456, sponsored by Rep. Rick Edmonds (R-Baton Rouge), proposes to make an exception to Louisiana’s public records law for certain records under the Louisiana Economic Development (LED) tax incentive programs, including the Industrial Tax Exemption Program, Louisiana Quality Jobs Program and Louisiana Enterprise Zone Program.

House lawmakers on Thursday passed a major tax reform bill that had failed to gain enough votes the night before. House Bill 274, sponsored by Rep. Stuart Bishop (R-Lafayette), is a proposed constitutional amendment that would create new income tax rates and get rid of the law that lets residents deduct from their state tax returns what they paid in federal taxes.

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Louisiana state senators debated a bill Thursday, May 13, that would require seat belts to be installed on school buses.
This issue isnât as cut and dry as people may think. There are studies that both sides of the argument say support their position. But Rep. Robby Carter (D-Amite), sponsor of HB 130, said this is something that should have been done a long time ago.
