South Australia s Country Fire Service’s State Duty Commander Brenton Hastie says the fire burning in Lucindale is almost under control.
The grassfire started on Monday afternoon in the state’s south east with the CFS saying it burned through almost 17,000 hectares.
“Crews have done a fantastic job overnight in bringing the fire almost under control. It’s still classified as a going incident but the fire’s not expanding at any great speed at the moment,” Mr Hastie told Sky News.
Mr Hastie said there have been a few structural losses, including The Old Avenue Range General Store. ....

National Weather Forecast: Fire danger for several states as temperatures rise


A total fire ban has been issued for regions in Victoria, while crews in South Australia work to keep a major grass fire at bay as strong winds and high temperatures generate dangerous fire conditions in several states today.
Victoria s fire ban has been issued for the Mallee, Wimmera and Northern Country regions, with no fires permitted to be lit in the open air today.
The SA Country Fire Service (CFS) is still working on the Blackford blaze which is now contained, however a current active Bushfire Advice message was issued last night.
