Luke Bender
Luke won the 145-pound wrestling state championship March 3. Coach Chris Mattioni: “Luke was a perfect 16-0 this season and scored the most team points during dual meets and at the state tournament. Luke has been focused all season. He attended every morning run and led by example all season. He had a dominant performance on Saturday, going 3-0 with three pins. He continued with a decision in the semis and a dominant 12-1 major decision in the finals. Luke is a tough competitor; he asks questions and is always looking to improve. He is a wonderful young man with a good disposition. He has a career record of 51-10 with 24 pins.” Teammates laugh when describing Luke as a wrestler, saying there are three things he does every match and you just can’t stop him from doing them.
