A group of surfers have bought surfing magazine Tracks from Next Media, following the recent publication of its 50th anniversary issue.
New co-owners Greg Cooper, Luke Kennedy, Damian Martin, David Mulham and Peter Strain said they have had a longtime passion for the publication, and are looking into how they can continue and refresh the brand.
“I’ve been a keen surfer and dedicated Tracks reader for decades,” Strain said.
“Tracks is more than just a magazine it’s a part of our history, and it has played an important role in shaping our cultural identity, not only as surfers but as Australians. We’re excited about exploring a range of new opportunities with the brand.” ....

The future of Mackay Cricket is bright if the performance of the U18 representative side is any indication.
Five players – all Magpies – were named to the North Queensland side following a perfect two from two showing by Mackay Whitsunday in the Northern Alliance U18 Championships at the weekend.
The hosts finished second to Central Queensland in the overall standings, after both sides notched wins over North Queensland and Far North Queensland during the rain-affected championships at Harrup Park.
Mackay Whitsundays opened their account with a thrilling final-over win over North Queensland in a day-night 40-over match on Saturday, before easily accounting for Far North Queensland on Sunday. ....

The Bahamas Aquatics Federation (BAF) hosted its end-of-year time trials meet this past weekend where a number of records were broken and UANA and CARIFTA standards were achieved as swimmers put on a show at the Betty Kelly-Kenning National Aquatics Center.
It has been over nine months since the BAF hosted a meet. Their last meet was the last chance meet held March 6-7 at the same location. The meet this past weekend was the first swim meet where all the clubs were invited to swim since March. ....
