HILLSDALE – A group of around 60 area residents met on the Courthouse lawn on the National Day of Prayer, to pray for local and national leaders.
Pastors representing various Christian denominations in Hillsdale County, as well as a group of participants, gathered to pray that those who lead the United States will be filled with wisdom and make choices based upon the word of God.
The event, organized by Hillsdale Area Ministerial Association, was one of many held across the nation to lift the nation and its leaders in prayer. As the 70th annual event nationally, it has been ongoing for 20 years in Hillsdale, according to a founding minister, the Rev. Les Smith. Smith announced however, that for the first time in 70 years, a permit was not granted to hold the event at the nation s capitol. ....

The Pflugerville Public Library will offer an online summer reading program this year! It is our hope that life can get back to normal soon but in the meantime, virtual events will be hosted through the summer to provide opportunities for our guests of all ages to enjoy new reading materials, video tutorials for crafts, special guests and more. 
Our popular Summer Reading Competition will return this year in an online format. Kids, teens and families are invited to participate as individuals or as a group. After participants are randomly sorted onto four teams, they can submit the number of hours they spend reading to earn points. The library will share updated team scores once a week on social media. Participants have an important choice to make. Will they submit hours each week, or save them up until the end of the summer to give their team a surprise boost? The winning team ....

The community gathered to worship at Christ Chapel at Hillsdale College on Good Friday.
The service is a tradition the Hillsdale Area Ministerial Association organizes each spring, with pastors from varying denominations participating.
The Rev. Lucas Miller, president of HAMA and pastor of the Somerset Congregational Church, opened the service with a welcome and prayer. The Rev. Adam Rick, chaplain at the college and pastor of Holy Trinity, delivered the main message with various other pastors reading scripture.
The Rev. David Turner served as song leader and Shannon Spahr played keyboard. Special music was offered by soloist Meg Wykes.
Miller said the Ministerial Association was grateful for having a space large enough to turn our hearts to the Lord on this Good Friday, as nearly 300 gathered for the event. ....
