H.E.R. Releases New Fight for You Music Video From Judas and the Black Messiah (EXCLUSIVE)

When director Shaka King was looking for an artist to deliver the end credit song for “Judas and the Black Messiah,” he went to Grammy winner H.E.R.
Of the qualities that made her the perfect artist to complete the task, he says, “versatility in musicianship, soul, artistic and personal integrity. She’s a throwback.”

King’s approach was to give the Oscar-nominated singer-songwriter notes about what he didn’t want. He says, “I really wanted to give her as much space creatively as possible – while expressing a desire to hear something contemporary with echoes of 1968. When I heard the Curtis Mayfield inspiration, I was like, ‘Yes!’”
The beginning of the end is upon us.
What s been probably the longest awards season ever is building up to its climax with the nominees for the 2021 Oscars being announced Monday morning.
Multihyphenate couple Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra Jonas woke up early to read off the names of nominees from such films as
Minari and
Mank earning the most nominations.

Writer-director Shaka King (Best Original Screenplay) Waking up to these nominations was honestly an incredible surprise and honor. We re so thankful to see our cast and crew recognized for their efforts. But above all, we re overjoyed that even more people will be inspired to learn about the legacy and sacrifice of Chairman Fred Hampton and the Illinois Black Panther Party. That is truly the ultimate reward.
