Walker caught a pass behind the net around his ankles, dove up between a pair of Villanova defenders and scored, giving No. 10 Denver a 11-10 win against No. 16 Villanova inside Villanova Stadium and clinching a share of the Big East regular-season crown.
“He’s fearless. There’s not a scared bone in his body. He’s not scared of the situation. He’s not afraid of big guys. He’s not afraid of me,” said Tierney. “He’s the guy you want to come up with it.” ....

As the NCAA winter sports seasons wrap up, lacrosse has the opportunity to step into the limelight. What’s happened is less important than what’s next.
Monmouth and Bryant are the current favorites to win their league titles, but the margin of success and failure are extremely tight in 2021. LIU (4-1 NEC) and Saint Joseph’s (5-0 NEC) still have to play the Bulldogs (3-1) in the NEC. Monmouth is scheduled to play Marist on Tuesday, but that game remains in doubt due to Marist’s ongoing pause. Jacksonville is 4-0 in the SoCon but has not played High Point or Richmond yet. Stay in the hunt. Make the next game the most important one of the season. This is when the fun begins. ....

Denver's 'Explosive' Third Quarter Leads to Big Win vs. Villanova

“Explosive” was a word he used after a 17-10 win for the No. 5 Pioneers against No. 20 Villanova on Saturday.
A close game turned into a rout after a 10-goal third quarter for the Pioneers, who improved to 9-2 (7-0 Big East) and won without star attackman Ethan Walker. Walker was out with an injury, breaking a streak of 65-straight starts.
Jack Hannah (3G, 1A), Lucas Cotler (3G, 1A) and Alex Simmons (1G, 3A) led with four points each, and Jackson Morrill (3G) extended the nation’s longest point streak to 67 games. Jack Thompson stood tall with 12 saves.
The first half saw the teams trading goals, with Denver heading into the half leading 6-5. But in the third, Denver went off. ....
