Now the retired swim champion is a life saver in more than one way.
âIt started when I wanted a haircut,â the 21-year-old said.
âAfter I read about the Worldâs Great Shave campaign to raise funds for leukaemia cancer research on social media, I thought I could do both.â
So the lifeguard and swim coach with Richmond Valley Aquatics decided to lose his locks for a great cause and managed to rev up his community along the way.
At 4pm on Friday March 12, Mr Yourell happily sat down and had his head shorn to show his commitment, which raised more than $2170. ....

But the fashions were short-lived, as more than 30 boys went under the clippers to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation.
While one very brave Year 10 student gave up her locks, as a tribute to her late grandfather.
“So my grandfather died of cancer a few years back and I have always wanted to shave my head, my brothers did it just before he died but I never got to do it so this is for him I guess. So, yeah, I am going to shave my head for my grandfather.” ....
