We will not soon forget the issues we had here in Deep East Texas on Sunday, February 14th, 2021. The historic winter storm cost people dearly around Texas on that frozen Sunday. Burst water pipes, no water, no electricity, and freezing temperatures all at the same time. It was scary for all of us.
When all of that was happening to us, the Kurth Memorial Library was suffering as well. Extensive roof damage caused by the storms, had them closed for awhile. There were some temporary fixes put in place, and they partly reopened.
Now 3 months 2 weeks and one day later, they are close to having everything back to 100%. The big news today was they have reopened the children s reading area. It s been closed since the storm, and before that due to Covid-19. They also hope to reopen the Genealogy room soon.
