Stephen Richardson made eight calls to 999 in around an hour when there was no genuine emergency. The 39-year-old, of Dover Street on Walney, admitted making calls to cause annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety. South Cumbria Magistrates Court heard it happened in the early hours of May 17. Prosecutor Lee Dacre told magistrates the defendant had shouted abuse at call handlers in the phone calls. He said: The defendant made eight 999 calls to the police when it was not an emergency. The court heard Richardson had been distressed and called police for attention . Police resources were despatched to his address, said Mr Dacre. ....
1/1 A WOMAN has been made the subject of a restraining order after she made threats against a retired police officer on social media. Sandra Moorby admitted harassment after she was hauled before a court for sending threatening messages on Facebook and Twitter. The court heard that 41-year-old blamed the police officer for a miscarriage she had during an investigation that led to her being jailed more than five years ago. The former detective inspector Barry Fitzgerald retired in 2010, magistrates heard. Appearing at South Cumbria Magistrates Court, she admitted sending several tweets between September 29 and October 29. Prosecutor Lee Dacre told the court: Barry Fitzgerald retired in 2010. He then started to receive threats in 2012. He had been working at Barrow s football club and the defendant emailed the club. ....
GUILTY: Louise Chambers A WOMAN has been fined after she admitted to being drunk and disorderly. Louise Chambers was brought to court after she was abusive towards police officers who had attended her home. At South Cumbria Magistrates Court the 31-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence, committed at her home in Barrow s Maple Street on September 24. Describing the offence, prosecutor Lee Dacre told the court: At about 5.20pm officers attended the defendant s home address having received a report of concerns for her welfare. She was abusive towards police and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. Chambers was represented in court by Trystan Roberts. ....
A WOMAN was arrested by officers at a caravan park after she made threats to police over the phone, a court heard. Sandra Dixon, 49, was hauled before magistrates after she made several threats to police both over the phone and when they attended the caravan park, off Barrow s Schneider Road. She pleaded guilty to using disorderly or insulting words when she appeared at South Cumbria Magistrates Court. Prosecutor Lee Dacre told the court it happened on July 31. He said: At about 3.05pm police received a 999 call to Schneider Road from a female making threats. When they attended she was shouting and swearing at police. ....
