[email protected] Morning Journal/Deanne Johnson An employee of Schindler Elevator lifts and lowers parts in the elevator shaft on Monday as the company prepares to install the new cylinder that operates the courthouseâs elevator from below. LISBON County Commissioner Roy Paparodis announced some good news for employees and those often utilizing the services at the Columbiana County courthouse the elevator repair project may be finished ahead of schedule. Schindler Elevator Corp. employees arrived late last week and began removing the cylinder that lifts the elevator, which stopped working when hydraulic oil leaked from it and caused it to smoke in mid-February. ....

NL Area Chamber of Commerce Names Citizen/Business of the Year The New Lisbon Area Chamber of Commerce has chosen the winners of the Community Service Award and Citizen of the year. Each Year we ask the great citizens of New Lisbon to nominate individuals, couples, businesses, and groups for these awards. This year’s nominations did not disappoint. We would like to thank everyone who sent in nominations. The 2021 New Lisbon Citizen of the year honor has been awarded to Nate Koca. He is very deserving of this award, as many community members will tell you. The nomination form that came in this year for Nate said, “Every Thursday for the last 20 years Nate has taken the garbage can of the residents of New Lisbon from the street back to the house for no other reason but to be helpful. Staff Writer The village of Lisbon is one step closer to welcoming back the Johnny Appleseed Festival after last year’s cancellation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Village council on Tuesday voted unanimously to confirm the proposed dates of Sept. 18 and 19 by the Lisbon Area Chamber of Commerce for the festival. “It’ll be a welcome thing to downtown provided we can do it,” said council president Dawn Thomas. In a letter to Mayor Peter Wilson and village council, executive director of the Lisbon Area Chamber of Commerce Marilyn McCullough asked for permission to hold the event downtown as usual. ....
