One team that is certainly doing themselves proud is the ‘Scrub-Up’ team in West Cumbria. Started by Sophia Atcha last year, in response to the urgent demand for scrubs for frontline workers, the group of volunteers have made thousands of sets of scrubs for workers including nurses, doctors, dentists and osteopaths. The team is based in Cockermouth, at the Friends Meeting House, but due to strict coronavirus guidelines there are only usually two people there at once, with many of the team working remotely from home to sew the sets of scrubs. Sophia recently asked for more people to get involved with ‘Scrub-Up’, and was overwhelmed at the response for help, after her Facebook post reached more than 25,000 people. ....

Organiser of the Scrub-up team, Sophia Atcha, said she has been overwhelmed at the response for help, after asking for more volunteers on social media. Sophia set up the group in Cockermouth a year ago to help with the demand for scrubs from frontline staff including nurses, doctors, dentists and osteopaths. She said the post has reached more than 25,000 people. Her team has now swelled from 20 to around 35 people, after she was inundated with offers of help. She said: There is a demand for the Noah fabric scrubs - this is fabric that is solely for the scrubs and pandemic and was bought by money raised by Chris Evans son, who slept under the stars in the hope of raising some money and actually raised more than £1million. I m lucky enough to have some of this fabric. ....
