West Virginia State University Recognized For Its Care Of Trees

The National Arbor Day Foundation has recognized West Virginia State University for the eighth consecutive year for its commitment to planting and caring for trees on its campus.
West Virginia State was the first institution in West Virginia to receive the designation of a “Tree Campus” back in 2014. WVSU is one of more than 400 other higher education institutions in the nation that have received the Tree Campus Higher Education award.
“West Virginia State has always been a beautiful campus, and to receive this acknowledgment for our efforts to be good stewards of our trees, and to recognize the important role they play in our landscape, is truly an honor,” said Urban Forestry Extension Agent Liz Moss in a press release. ....

A FORMER dale drama teacher called on one of her ex-students to ensure an ambitious school production performed to an empty auditorium could be seen by all fans of live theatre.
Liz Moss taught at Teesdale School for four years in the early 2000s and among her students was Oliver Smith, who has since gone on to carve out a career in film production.
Ms Moss is now head of academic theatre studies at Glenalmond College, an independent school near Perth, in Scotland. ....

Arts organisations encouraged to take advantage of Covid-19 Culture Recovery Fund

As the deadline for the latest round of the Culture Recovery Fund approaches, Cumbria Tourism is encouraging arts organisations to make the most of all of the available support.
Closing next Tuesday, January 26, the fund offers arts and cultural organisations up to £3 million to assist in the transition back to sustainable operation following the devastating disruption of the Covid-19 pandemic.

A rarely seen play that was first staged in London 400 years ago, after an outbreak of the bubonic plague, has been given a timely revival at a Perthshire school.
The Ben Jonson-penned Epicene, also know as The Silent Woman, made its debut in 1609 when Britain’s theatres reopened following a pandemic.
It has been brought back to the stage by Glenalmond College, one of the few schools which has managed to put on an end-of-year show. ....
