Fort Leonard Wood scaling back to only fireworks show on Independence Day Rolla Daily News staff As confirmed cases of COVID-19 continue to rise in Missouri. As a matter of prudent precaution, Fort Leonard Wood’s Public Affairs Office announced that the Independence Day Celebration is scheduled only to feature a fireworks show beginning at 9:30 p.m., July 4. All other events and activities previously scheduled, including the car show, the Interactive Zone, and Parmalee and Thompson Square, have been canceled.  Fort Leonard Wood is working on scheduling another concert at a later date. Fort Leonard Wood Garrison Commander Col. Jeff Paine said Fort Leonard Wood continues to adapt and respond to the situation across the state. According to Paine, the post’s revised Fourth of July plan is a prudent, precautionary measure to help protect the community from the spread of COVID-19.

Fort Leonard Wood graduations to reopen for in-person visitors in May Press Release Family and friends will soon be able to watch their Soldiers graduate here in person. Officials from the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence and Fort Leonard Wood said plans to allow in-person visitors are being carried out in a phased approach. Graduations for functional courses, basic officer leadership courses, captains career courses and courses with the NCO Academy will be open to in-person visitors starting May 1; One Station Unit Training and Advanced Individual Training, May 20; and Basic Combat Training, June 1. Soldiers in training will contact their family, friends and loved ones to provide information about their specific graduations. Units will also provide updates and additional information on their social media sites. Units will continue to provide graduations virtually on their social media sites as well.

Fort Leonard Wood normal operations suspended Tuesday for personnel

Appointments at the General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital currently scheduled for Tuesday will be rescheduled RDN REPORTS rdnnews@gmail.com Due to current severe weather and RED road conditions, normal operations Tuesday at Fort Leonard Wood have been suspended for all personnel who are not critical and or essential as previously identified by supervisors.  According to a news release from Fort Leonard Wood, mission essential personnel will report as normal. All non-essential personnel are advised not to come to work through 6 p.m. Tuesday.   Administrative and safety leave is in effect and maximum teleworking if eligible and capable for Tuesday. Personnel should check with their immediate supervisor for more details.
