Inmates awaiting 'expedited' pandemic hearing

SANTA FE – Despite approving an expedited briefing schedule, the New Mexico Supreme Court has yet to schedule oral arguments in a case alleging inmates faced cruel and unusual confinement conditions during the pandemic.
That has attorneys for the inmate plaintiffs concerned.
The time-sensitive case – spearheaded by the American Civil Liberties Union of New Mexico, the New Mexico Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and others on behalf of incarcerated people statewide – was expedited to the Supreme Court by the New Mexico Court of Appeals in November, just as the pandemic was peaking in New Mexico.

Lalita Moskowitz, staff attorney with the ACLU, said plaintiff attorneys were expecting the arguments to be scheduled shortly after the last briefing in the case in February. ....

New Mexico reports 3 new deaths, 647 additional COVID-19 cases over three-day period

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) reported 3 additional COVID-19-related deaths in a report that combines Saturday s, Sunday s and Monday s numbers.
The latest deaths include:
A male in his 70s from Eddy County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
A female in her 60s from San Juan County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
A male in his 80s from Lea County. The individual was hospitalized.
The number of deaths of New Mexico residents related to COVID-19 is now 3,979. 
New Mexico has reported a total of 193,987 cases. ....

  SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials on Monday announced 647 additional COVID-19 cases and 3 deaths. As of today, there are 101 individuals hospitalized in New Mexico for COVID-19. This number may include individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 out of state but are currently hospitalized in New Mexico. This number does not include New Mexicans who tested positive for COVID-19 and may have been transferred to a hospital out of state.
 Per the state Department of Health, the most recent cases are: 
227 new cases in Bernalillo County
2 new cases in Catron County
26 new cases in Chaves County
9 new cases in Cibola County ....

STATE News:
SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials today announced the Saturday, Sunday and Monday total of 126 new COVID-19 cases.
Los Alamos County reports 1 new case over the 3 days bringing the total to 506 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. (County totals are subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.)
The 3-day update includes 3 new deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19.
The New Mexico Department of Health reports the most recent cases April 10, 11 and 12:

COVID
COVID-19 cases trended down in San Juan County in March, allowing the county to achieve the turquoise level on the state s reopening criteria. Local government and business officials hoped to maintain the low levels of test positivity and cases, but on April 7 the county switched back to more restrictive Yellow Level restrictions.
Meanwhile, vaccination continues for both New Mexico and Navajo Nation residents. The state announced that inoculations will be open for all residents aged 16 and older starting on April 5. Registration is available at cvvacine.nmhealth.org for New Mexico residents and ndoh.navajo-nsn.gov/COVID-19/COVID-19-Vaccine for the Navajo Nation. ....
