Medford golfers adapt to pandemic protocols to finish 2-2 Dom Nicastro Special to Wicked Local When the Medford High School golf team learned its season last fall would not happen, its golfers did not sit idle. The Greater Boston League decided not to play fall sports unlike many other high school leagues, ultimately postponing the golf season until this spring. But the Mustangs had a jump on this season, because they worked hard last fall. Ray Dyer, coach of the Medford High School golf team, said the team saw plenty of action on the links last fall, despite not being in a competitive league. The Mustang golfers got to see a lot of green at Unicorn Golf Course in Stoneham, as well as Sagamore golf course.

Medford boys lost to powerhouse Somerville; girls keep on winning Medford harriers get split decision Wicked Local The Medford High School cross-country teams took on host Somerville at the Blessing of the Bay Boat House.  The temperatures were ideal for running, albeit quite windy. The Medford boys (1-1) faced probably the top team in the Greater Boston League [GBL] this year, and as a result they lost the meet, 23-37. Despite the loss, their efforts resulted in some excellent times on the 2.5-mile course, according to coach Lou Ruggiero. “Several of our runners showed great improvement, which is what I was looking for,” the coach added.

Lynn Classical stages comeback to beat Medford in GBL opener Medford football captains assess play after first two games Dom Nicastro / Correspondent The Medford High School football team had its first test against Lynn Classical, one of the newest entrants in the  Greater Boston League [GBL], last Friday, April 30, at Hormel Stadium. The Rams were a longtime Northeastern Conference [NEC] team that switched to the GBL this year, along with Lynn English, their cross-town counterparts. Chelsea has returned to the league after being a part of it for decades. With these additions, the GBL is now made up of eight schools.
