Winnebago County announces five-year plan address roads, bridges

Winnebago County Engineer Scott Meinders has announced the five-year program of the county road department, which has been approved by the Board of Supervisors.
Meinders said the plans for fiscal years 2022-26 do not show maintenance, including three small bridge replacements and almost 50 miles of pavement preservation treatments.
âWithout the option to use TIF, it imperative that more funding be allocated to pavement preservation and maintenance,â said Meinders. âThis is an intentional focus for the next five years and beyond.â
Meinders also noted that the plan is subject to change. He said some projects could be pushed back and others moved up as need warrants. He said the plan as approved will rely heavily on local funding of more than $1 million each year. ....

Man Claimed to Have Explosives in Van in Lyndon Township
On April 8, 2021 at 10:30 pm Juneau County Deputies responded to a residence on Dyer St. in Lyndon Township for a report of a disturbance.
Upon arrival deputies encountered Phillip T. Cholka, 53 years old of rural Wisconsin Dells, seated in the driver’s seat of a van located at the residence. Cholka advised deputies that he had explosives in the vehicle and he would ignite them. A lighter was observed in Cholka’s hand. Nearby residences were evacuated, negotiations with Cholka were conducted, and assistance was requested from Dane County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Unit and Dells/Delton Ambulance. ....
