Hospital staff vaccination rates vary across Capital Region, Mohawk Valley | The Daily Gazette

ALBANY Hospital staff COVID vaccination rates range from 66% to 99% in the Capital Region and Mohawk Valley, underscoring the erratic nature of the population’s willingness to receive the vaccine.
Back in December, New York gave medical care providers top priority and preferred access to the very limited supply of vaccine when it was rolled out for public use.
A second surge of infections and hospitalizations was building to a peak in the state at the time, and the strategy was to immunize care providers first because they simultaneously would be among the most vulnerable to contracting the virus and among the most vital to protect from the virus while caring for a growing number of sick people.

New York hospitals received mixed safety grades from a consumer watchdog group that analyzed conditions just before the COVID-19 pandemic struck last spring.
Only 16 hospitals statewide, or 10.7%, received the highest A safety grade from Leapfrog, a Washington, DC-based nonprofit, while 30 hospitals received the second-lowest D grade. Just one, New York Community Hospital in Brooklyn, received an F.
The review looked at a variety of serious health-related issues, including data related to infectious disease prevention metrics considered crucial to limiting the spread of coronavirus.
“Seeing how well hospitals are doing on infection prevention, in general, may indicate how well they were able to control the spread of COVID inside their facility,” said Erica Mobley, vice president of administration at Leapfrog.

A Mass Distribution site at the New York State Fairgrounds is being set up with the Onondaga County Health Dept and should be open on Wednesday, January 13, and those in group 1A and 1B will be the top priority. Additional sites will be launched in the days to come.
According to Governor Cuomo, Oneida County is part of the Mohawk Valley. The Mohawk Valley also includes Herkimer, Otsego, Montgomery, Fulton, and Schoharie counties. So far, these are locations to receive a vaccine:

GLOVERSVILLE Several dozen Nathan Littauer Hospital & Nursing Home staffers recently received their first doses of the coronavirus vaccine.
A total of 57 healthcare workers from Nathan Littauer traveled to the “hub” vaccine location for the Mohawk Valley region in Utica on Dec. 23 to receive their first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine.
The vaccine was the first in the nation to receive emergency use authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention earlier this month and was recommended for use by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices.
