Lichfield Live Open Search Share this: Council tax bills for people living in Lichfield and Burntwood will rise by an average of more than 4.7%, a report has revealed. Members of Lichfield District Council will hear the report highlighting the overall figure at a meeting this evening (16th February). The council tax bill is made up of amounts given to different authorities, including councils, police and fire services – each of which decides how much to set the figure at each year. The report comes as the local authority is planning to increase its share of the bill for a Band D property by 2.78% – taking the average rise for householders to 4.71%. ....

We best watch out just incase LDC try to sell Market Square from underneath the noses of the City Council and then say they didn’t know anything about it! However, did you know, LDC & LCC are taking to CJ Events in regards to running the general market and this means higher rents which current traders wouldn’t be able to afford (especially after Covid), also possible trading spots changed, which would mean current traders leaving and been replaced by more expensive traders…. this can be found in the meeting minutes of the council. ....

Cllr Mark Warfield, leader of the city council, said: “Last year was a year like no other – the challenges caused by the pandemic have continued into 2021 and will be with us for some time yet. “The parish council element of council tax is relatively small, but in these uncertain times the city council wanted to ensure that it did not place further burden on its residents, particularly given the budgetary pressures on the district and county councils.” Cllr Mark Warfield Cllr Warfield said that while the city council had opted to freeze the precept, there were still financial challenges it faced. ....
