• Christe’ Harris-Leech has been named to the board of directors of First American National Bank. She is a native of Iuka and is the daughter of Glenn Ray and Dianne L. Harris.
Her roots with First American run deep as her first job outside of working for her dad at J.P. Coleman State Park was as a part-time teller at FANB through high school and college.
Leech is a 1994 graduate of Tishomingo County High School. She attended Northeast Mississippi Community College before transferring to the University of Mississippi, where in 1998, she earned a double B.A.  in Banking and Finance and Managerial Finance. In 2001, she graduated from Mississippi College School of Law with a Juris Doctorate. ....

In Nashua, Ensuring Equitable Access to the COVID-19 Vaccine Is A Team Effort

Inside one of Nashua’s community COVID-19 vaccine clinics, before patients arrive, nurses, public health workers and first responders are suiting up in scrubs and protective masks, sorting through paperwork and assembling supplies to administer the shots.
“I ve been making masks at home for a year, just waiting for an opportunity to put my hand in and help,” said Dr. Ophelia Chang, one of several retired physicians volunteering at the latest clinic. “And this is the first time I felt like there s something I can really do to help save lives.”
There’s also a team of interpreters standing by, ready to help immigrants, refugees and other non-English speakers through the process in Spanish, French, Swahili and Portuguese. Ira Munoz, who works for the city’s welfare department and provides Spanish language support at these clinics, said this kind of service is essential to help people feel more comfortable and to clear up any misinfor ....

WASHINGTON Federal authorities reported just three arrests Wednesday, none of them involving violence, as an unprecedented lockdown secured the inauguration of President Joe Biden.
Despite fears that domestic extremists would attempt new attacks just two weeks after the deadly assault on the Capitol, the U.S. Secret Service reported only 13 arrests since Jan. 13, when federal authorities launched a massive defensive operation to secure the city for the inauguration.
Two people were arrested for carrying unregistered ammunition Wednesday, while a third was found in possession of a pellet gun, as ceremonies stretching from the Capitol to Arlington Cemetery played out without incident. ....
