Saskatoon and Pine Grove jails over capacity with inmates, fuelling concerns about spread of COVID-19

Two of Saskatchewan’s provincial jails are now over their inmate population capacity and two others are past 80 per cent of their capacity, new figures from the corrections ministry show.
As of April 30, the Saskatoon Correctional Centre, which has a capacity of 507, held 532 inmates. Pine Grove, the province’s only jail for women, held 186 inmates, but has the capacity to hold 166.

The Regina Correctional Centre the site of an active COVID-19 outbreak has a capacity of 782 and held 646 inmates. The Prince Albert jail, with a capacity of 496, held 417 inmates. ....
