CLEVELAND, Ohio Though the winter season in Cleveland can often be full of gray days and slush, it also brings its own kind of fun in the form of sledding.
Every snow day, local kids break out their toboggans, tubes and sleds to speed down locally renowned hills. During the coronavirus pandemic, social distancing is a manageable feat on a sledding hill and face masks are a welcome accessory in frigid temperatures. ....

However, this conclusion does not factor in socioeconomic data that might affect student performance. Socioeconomic standing affects outcomes in many areas of life, including education and health, according to the American Psychological Association. Socioeconomic status includes household income, among other factors. ....

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. With mention of catering halls of yesteryear and indigenous, mysteries skunk cabbages, the food memory floodgates have opened. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and details of Staten Island restaurant history. Very much appreciated by fellow natives of our great borough as per the lovely feedback.
With talk of the Bill Francis Band, the comments certainly flowed. Said one reader, “He played at my wedding 1984 at the Shalimar” and another at her 1979 prom, yet another at a wedding at The Beachcomber. A fan noted, “He played at my wedding in ’90 fantastic show. Had a female vocalist that would bowl you over with her voice.” And yet another remarked, “I always remember my parents talking about the Billy Francis band. They loved him. If you are a native Islander from back in the day those were wonderful m ....

So if staying on Staten Island to patronize a restaurant, we’re looking at dining in an igloo for up to four guests or in a heated, two-sided tent. At this point in winter with the bare trees and frozen earth, I turn to nature and wonder, “What would the Lenape do right now in January on this hilly, marshy Island?”
When the first Europeans visited Staten Island 350 years ago, they encountered the Lenni-Lenape, a diverse group of Raritan, Hackensack and Canarsie tribes with contacts throughout the region. (Staten Island Museum)staten island advance ....
