On the night before Valentine’s Day, 1981, young parents Maureen and Francis Lawlor, aged 23 and 25, decided to take a rare night off from looking after their baby daughter, Lisa, and headed to a trendy nightclub, Stardust, in north Dublin.
They didn’t intend to stay for long, as Maureen was anxious about leaving Lisa with a babysitter, but they soon got swept up in a disco dancing competition and stayed until the early hours. Then, a fire broke out in the venue.
