BOURBON / CRAWFORD COUNTY, Kan. – WEC Energy Group acquires a 90% ownership interest in the Jayhawk Wind Farm, to be built in Bourbon and Crawford counties, Kansas. Jayhawk will generate renewable energy that will be sold under long-term contract to Facebook, to help support the tech company’s operations in the region.

Apex Clean Energy today announced that WEC Energy Group (NYSE: WEC) and Invenergy purchased the Jayhawk Wind project, including a renewable power purchase agreement with Facebook. Apex Clean Energy has announced that WEC Energy Group and Invenergy purchased the Jayhawk Wind project, including a renewable power purchase agreement with Facebook. The more than 190 MW project, located in Crawford and Bourbon Counties, Kansas, will help support the tech company’s operations in the region.

Lincoln Land Wind Project Changes Ownership

A wind project in Morgan County has been purchased by a multi-national corporate investor. Apex Clean Energy announced on Tuesday that Ares Management Corporation, that funds managed by Ares’ Infrastructure and Power strategy, acquired the Lincoln Land Wind Project in Morgan County.
Ares, which was founded in 1997 in Los Angeles, is a multi-billion dollar publicly traded corporation with offices on 3 continents. Ares Private Equity Group works in majority and share-controlled investments principally in under-capitalized middle market companies and manages investments in U.S. power and infrastructure assets in the power generation, transmission, and midstream sectors. It manages approximately $23.3 billion in assets under management through four corporate private equity commingled funds focused on North America. ....

Apex Leasing Former AC-Humko Property For Lincoln Land Wind Project

A vacant manufacturing complex is getting some use for the next year. The Journal Courier reports that Apex Clean Energy has leased the former AC-Humko property on the east end of Jacksonville from Hayes Properties to be used as a lay down yard for the Lincoln Land Wind Project.
The grounds will hold equipment and materials and will also be an employee and engineer gathering site while each of the turbine sites are developed. Work on the 38,000-acre project began in December after final permits were approved and issued by the Morgan County Commissioners. According to the Journal Courier, excavation at several of the sites have already begun, with the project’s construction expected to be completed by October. Apex then will continue through the remainder of the year taking care of soil decompaction and reclamation efforts, including road maintenance. ....
