Fort Collins first permanent public art exhibit dedicated to women s history took its latest step this weekend with an unveiling in Old Town on Sunday afternoon.
Living Her Legacy s public art exhibit  a Fort Collins-born project aimed at honoring 48 of the city s notable women and educating the community about their contributions  revealed a placard with a rendering of what the portraits of its first four honored women will look like.
This fall, the project plans to install renderings of the next four portraits. Eventually, permanent versions of the portraits   which take 20 to 30 hours to create on weatherproof metal panels through a wood-cut reduction process will replace the renderings on the north-facing wall of windows of Coopersmith s Poolside, Living Her Legacy founder and director Patti Smith said. ....

The fog lifting out of the Minnesota River Valley in Chanhassen casts an enchanting veil over the faceless industrial lots and strip malls along Highway 5. Hoarfrost generously flocks every tree and signpost. At this moment, all the familiar suburban fixtures seem almost as wondrously strange as Paisley Park, the $10 million pyramid-roofed complex in their midst.
lt’s a couple of weeks before Christmas, and the huge film and audio recording center is uncharacteristically quiet. Most of the office staff is adjourned; only the occasional blast of a guitar lick or rhythm track can be heard from one of the studios, where the “house” band rehearses for upcoming television appearances in New York and a promised world tour later in the new year. A preppy-looking young man named Adam, employed as a personal attendant to the man Paisley Park staff ....

Malden Musings: The Crime of the Century

One of the greatest unsolved mysteries in the history of Edgeworth, and the St. Rocco Feast, took place in August of 1982 at the 53rd annual San Rock Festa. It was just another ordinary St. Rocco weekend right up until Sunday morning. Then blam! The backstory; as always, all the regulars gathered to sample the calzone, sausages & peppers, fried dough, and cannoli. They gathered to toast loved ones no longer with them. And to share the home-made vino that sat fermenting for months in every basement in Edgeworth. Regulars like Lou Brandano, (then Ward 2 Councilor) Dom Fermano, Tony Spadafora Sr., Johnny Colangeli Sr., John Puleo Sr., Freddy Caruso, Joey Cantera, Frankie Ultrino, Nick Angelo, Anne Sbraccia, Jean Selidelli, (then Ward 6 Councilor) Billy Croken, Bobby McCarthy, and a whole heck of a lot more San Rock pilgrims. The Bobby Fiore Orchestra entertained. The Angelo girls poured drinks. Children s faces were pai ....

One of the most successful and pleasurable Ladies’ nights held by the Hingham Rotary Club took place last Thursday evening at the Central Fire Station, upon the invitation of Chief Albert Kimball of the Fire Department. Over 80 attended the affair, including District Governor Howard B. Peck of Fall River, and Mrs. Peck. A lobster dinner, augmented with cold cuts and chicken salads, was furnished by Dora Ferguson, caterers. Music was furnished by Mrs. Vivian Mulvey, accordionist, and Mrs. Richard Woorf, pianist, Marshfield, Mass. The entertainment was furnished by Sherman Woodfall of Hingham, who showed the colored sound pictures of his 14,000-mile trip in the small yacht “Violta” made four years ago. He and his brother Russell, who was killed in Panama two years ago, built the boat in the back yard ....
