LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) In a pandemic year, The Food Bank of Lincoln broke a new record, serving millions of pounds of meals.
The Food Bank of Lincoln finished its fiscal year on June 30th, giving 13.2 million meals to local families. The previous record was 11.5 million last year, showing that the need for food has grown in the Capital City.
“We’re still definitely responding to the pandemic and seeing that demand from neighbors and their food insecurity and doing our best to rise to meet that need,” said Michaella Kumke, president and CEO.

The strawberries were planted three years ago and finally were ready for harvest this summer.
Dozens gathered from 11 a.m. till 3 p.m. in the strawberry fields, braving the heat, to pick some berries for one day only.
Strawberry picking was free, but Roca Berry Farm was collecting donations for the Lincoln Food Bank. After the event, Roca Berry Farm raised over $1,400 and almost 100 can goods for the local Food Bank.
“We do customer service based business out here for the daytime pumpkins, the daytime activities, the night time stuff,” Josh Schaefer, part owner of Roca Berry Farm said. “And it’s only six weeks out of the year, so we love having people out here at the farm.”

Sometimes the internet really does come through with pure gold. This was one of those times.
About a year ago a guy named Josh Swain got a bunch of other Josh Swains in a group message to propose that there can only be one true Josh. What started as funny banter became an international meme.
there can only be one pic.twitter.com/VPamxjJ0yL
The original Josh set the venue of the fight with random coordinates that ended up being a farmer’s land. This particular man didn’t seem too keen on the idea of a bunch of random dudes fighting with pool noodles on his property.
