€3 million reform of Alicante Town Hall part of €80m EU funding campaign

Eighty million euros of European funds have been applied for by Alicante City to finance urban and technological projects – including €3 million to reform the Town Hall.
The City Council has proposed to the Consell 23 proposals for €54m presented to the Ministry of Finance, that also includes restoration of La Británica and a Municipal sustainable energy plan.
The initiatives relate to waste management, mobility, sustainability and energy efficiency, with projects scheduled to improve the quality of life in the city and surrounding areas. ....

Torrevieja declare war on Mosquitoes!
Abundant rain, around one hundred litres per square metre in March, an increase in temperatures, more insolation, and the arrival of spring. All are synonymous with the clouds of mosquitoes currently being experienced in Torrevieja. Swarms can be regularly seen across dozens of points in the urban area and residential areas.
Indeed half of the municipal area is a wetland, which, with brackish waters is the ideal habitat for the reproduction of mosquitoes.
The council has therefore made its social network pages available to residents so that they can advise of the places where mosquito swarms are seen and for the last week or so the Department of Health, has been using it’s pest team, fumigation without respite, over al the days of the Easter holiday. ....

For the first time ever, the Latino music show, “Luz de las Naciones,” had to be broadcast instead of before a live audience because of COVID-19 restrictions.
But as Newsline reporter Lizeth Vejar tells us, the performers and spectators say they enjoyed the socially distanced experience.
More than 1,000 people put on Luz de las Naciones: producers, singers, dancers, band/instrument players and hosts all from Latin American and Spanish countries. 
They do it to express their culture, traditions and values through music.
This pandemic did not stop anything due to technology. This year, families enjoyed this show from the comfort of their homes. A different spacing, but the same spirit.  ....

Many Americans are expressing concerns over the pace with which COVID-19 vaccine were developed. Public health officials are working to alleviate those fears, saying vaccine science has come a long way from years past. (Photo: Crixell Matthews/VPM News)
While COVID-19 vaccines are not yet available to the general public, Virginia health officials are confronting the fact that some residents will face greater barriers than others to get vaccinated. 
Over the summer, local health districts placed special attention on Latinos and other non-English speaking immigrant groups when rolling out COVID-19 testing. Teams prioritized the recruiting of bilingual contact tracers and investigators, and they conducted testing events in neighborhoods and communities with particularly high concentrations of Latino residents. ....
