HAV Design signed a contract for two new battery-powered ferries, making them the thirteenth and fourteenth ferry designs with zero-emission technology from the company. The two new HAV 934 ferries will operate on the Stranda-Liabygda and Eidsdal-Linge routes with a capacity of 80 cars and 249 passengers. They will be built at the Turkish shipyard Tersan for Fjord1.
In the work on the design, HAV Design runs route simulation and hull optimization at HAV Ocean Lab. Large quantities of data on both the ferry design and the individual route are used to create a virtual model of the area and a digital twin of the ferries. ....

Havyard said Monday it has been contracted to develop a new emissions-free ship concept for transporting cargo between European ports.
The contracting partner, an unnamed European company, was first introduced to Havyard by Invest in Norway, who has been working with this company for the last two years in supporting their entry to the Norwegian maritime industry, Havyard said.
Lars Conradi Andersen, Vice President Sales, said, The framework for this contract is to develop a ship that uses hydrogen-based fuel as its primary energy source while at the same time giving the client an effective and safe ship. The goal is to design a large ship that can sail longer distances with zero emissions. ....

Norway’s Havyard has received a contract from a European company to develop a new zero-emission ship concept for cargo transport.
Through the pilot project, Havyard said it will combine its expertise in hydrogen energy systems and ship design to develop a brand new concept for transporting cargo between European ports.
