OBITUARY: Wiley Eugene Gage, 1941-2020 Wiley Eugene Gage, 79, passed away on December 14, 2020 at his home in Willow Creek, of natural causes. Born on January 6, 1941 in Webb, Oklahoma to Wiley and Dorothy Gage, Wiley attended and graduated from Eureka High School in 1959. Out of high school, he worked at US Plywood. Two years later, he began completing his Carpentry Apprenticeship. Wiley worked as a Journeyman Carpenter for the Carpenter’s Union for 20 years, before working for St. Joseph Hospital. Wiley retired from St. Joseph Hospital after 23 years and moved to Willow Creek. Wiley was a talented carpenter with many houses built for family and himself. From a piece of land ....
Loughboro Road NW is named for the man who had it built in the early 1800s John Kelly We’ve lived on Loughboro Road NW for over 35 years and have occasionally wondered where the name comes from for this fairly short and twisty stretch of D.C. roadway. Recently on the Capital Crescent Trail in Bethesda, I came across a plaque near the junction of Massachusetts Avenue and Little Falls Parkway. It describes Loughborough Mill, a flour mill built by Nathan Loughborough. Notwithstanding the different spellings and the modest distance between the plaque and the D.C. road, is this the person our street is named after? ....
