Emma Maltais to Centralize with Canada s National Team – Ohio State Buckeyes

Share COLUMBUS, Ohio – Emma Maltais is one step closer to realizing a hockey dream she’s had to her whole life. The Burlington, Ontario native has been selected as one of 28 players to centralize with the Canadian National Team as they continue the process to choose its squad for the 2022 Olympic Games. Maltais will train with the team in hopes of making the final roster, which is expected to be announced in late December. “I’m so honored and excited,” said Maltais. “I’m also so thankful for my experience at Ohio State, the coaches here, and my teammates. I wouldn’t be there without them. And then my family, most especially for their support along the way. They are the best.”

No 2 Minnesota Tops No 3 Ohio State, 7-4

Share COLUMBUS, Ohio – The only women’s hockey series in the nation featuring two Top 5 teams played out like the two heavyweights this year that are the No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes and the No. 2 Minnesota Golden Gophers. Minnesota broke a 4-4 tie midway through the third period with a pair of goals and went on to take the first game of the series Friday night at the OSU Ice Rink by the score of 7-4. The win snapped Minnesota’s two-game losing streak and improved its record to 9-3. Ohio State had its three-game win streak broken. The Buckeyes are now 8-5 on the year.

Emma Maltais Named WCHA Forward of the Week

Share COLUMBUS, Ohio – Senior Emma Maltais is this week’s WCHA Forward of the Week, the conference office announced this afternoon. Maltais, from Burlington, Ontario, had a hand in five of Ohio State’s seven goals in a split against No. 2 Minnesota last weekend. In Friday’s game, she was part of all four Buckeye goals that were scored, assisting on three of them while scoring one late in the second period. On Saturday, she had an empty net goal with 12 seconds remaining in the third period to secure a 3-1 win. During Friday’s game, Maltais also reached a significant career milestone when she recorded her 100th career assist. She is just the second player in program history with 100 career assists (Laura McIntosh, who played from 2009-12 and had 123 assists, is the other).
