Students will be back in the classroom next week in Cabarrus County, a move school board members said they have been getting a lot of blowback for enacting.
Starting Jan. 19, the district is bringing back students for two days a week, with virtual learning the other three days.
“We’ve got to get these kids back in school,” Chair Holly Grimsley said. “We have got to start somewhere.”
The move to switch to Plan B comes as COVID-19 numbers and spread in our community are at all-time highs. ....

Cabarrus County Schools moving to Plan C starting Monday

The Cabarrus County Board of Education voted 5-2 at an emergency called meeting on Wednesday to move into fully remote learning starting Monday, Dec. 14.
There is an end date set on the motion as the board hopes to bring students back to campus after Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Jan. 19. Effectively, students who are learning in a blended format right now will miss six days of on-campus learning. Students who are in Plan B currently went to school Thursday, while all students will learn remotely as normally scheduled today. ....
