Mumbai: The Colaba police on Monday filed a chargesheet against 36 persons including activists, lawyers, academicians, artists and students for their peaceful protests in January this year against the violence in JNU. The protest was against the mob attack in JNU on students and teachers who were protesting against the hike in university s fees.
Prominent among those who were named in the 145-page chargesheet include activist Feroze Mithiborewala, senior advocate Mihir Desai, Dalit-cultural activist Sambhaji Bhagat and activist Jatin Desai. Cultural activist Suvarna Salve who was booked by the MRA Marg police for a rally from Hutatma Chowk to Gateway has also been named in the chargesheet. ....

New Delhi, Dec 29: The Mumbai police have filed a chargesheet against 36 persons who staged a protest at the Gateway of India in Mumbai against the attack on students at the Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi.
Lawyers Mihir Desai, Susan Abraham, Lara Jesani, Lokshahir Sambhaji Bhagat, students and activists, Suvarna Salve, Bilal Khan and CPI leader Prakash Reddy among others have been named in the chargesheet.
The 80 page chargesheet was filed by the Colaba police. The chargesheet said that on January 5 midnight, many persons holding candles assembled at the Gateway of India. The police said that the number of protesters eventually rose to 400. ....

New Delhi: The Mumbai police on Monday filed a chargesheet against 36 persons involved in a protest at the Gateway of India after the attack on students at the Jawaharlal Nehru University on January 5, over unlawful assembly.
