Mahjongg Scores By Staff | Jul 21, 2021 On July 15, we had another marvelous mahjongg Thursday. We play from 1-4 p.m., sharing our skills, tips, fun, snacks, competitive spirit, laughter and friendship. On this day we enjoyed 4 new guests and one new member to our wonderful civic association. Jerilynn Safran won first place honors together with a great score of 235 points. Marilee Conroy enjoyed second place with a terrific score of 140 points. Laura Carey took third place honors with her very respectable score of 90 points. We celebrated Joni Stewart today (our newest member). Not only was she being taught mahjongg by Pat Johnsen and Paula Bruckner, she won her very first hand. Talk about a quick learner! ....

Residents of the city’s 4th and 5th Wards teamed up to have a parade coordinated by 4th Ward Councilman Michael Ray and 5th Ward Councilwoman Lauren McNally. ....

Military Caregivers Get Help With Respite Relief AARP and the Elizabeth Dole Foundation are assisting caregivers of injured veterans, service members AARP, February 25, 2021 | Wilma Consul: There are more than 5.5 million veteran and military family caregivers in the United States. Caregiving is hard work, and for many, the ones who give care end up exhausted and sometimes burnt out. Getting others to pitch-in for a bit of a break can be difficult. Wilma Consul: On today s show, we chat with Lara Garey, a caregiver to her husband, Tom, a veteran of the Air Force. She opens up about the challenges of being the sole provider of his care 24/7. But good news came last year: Lara was able to find help courtesy of the new Respite Relief Program. We ll also hear from my co-host, Bob Edwards, who talks to Lee Woodruff about this new respite program. Woodruff is a caregiving advocate and the co-founder of the Bob Woodruff Foundation.
