Briar Cliff Welcomes Presidential Scholars May 12, 2021 Briar Cliff University welcomed its four Presidential Scholars to the April 30 Charger Orientation. Braxton Brockhaus, son of Greg and Heather Brockhaus, will study biology while attending BCU. He chose Briar Cliff because of the family atmosphere and Catholic Franciscan values. “I am most looking forward to seeing how Briar Cliff can push me to be the best person I can be,” Brockhaus says. Sarah Glover, daughter of Jason and Laura Glover, plans to study exercise physiology for pre-med. She looks forward to growing and exploring new opportunities. “BCU has the atmosphere and culture I’m looking for. For weeks now, Mary McDarby has lived in vaccine limbo. Her husband qualified for the coronavirus vaccine more than two months ago. Because he has later-stage emphysema, though, his lungs cannot tolerate cold air. Even the short distance between the parking lot and the door of a vaccine clinic could pose a threat. The other option, bringing the vaccine to him, also has proved impossible. For McDarby, the silence from officials has left her feeling abandoned. âI thought, thereâs gotta be a lot of disabled people in our situation,â she said. âBut, I canât find any information about it.â ....
