Sailing takes fourth at Thomson Trophy Stanford sailing secured fourth place at Thompson Trophy in Connecticut. (Photo: JOHN TODD/isiphotos.com) on April 10, 2021 Stanford sailing concluded a weekend at New London, Conn., where it handily defeated Connecticut College in a head-to-head on Friday and finished in fourth place at Thomson Trophy on Saturday. Freshmen Hannah Freeman and Marta Munte posted the weekend’s best performance on Friday against Connecticut College. In the B Division, Freeman skippered a flying junior to victory with Munte in all seven of their races, earning them a score of seven the lowest possible on the day. Their teammates in the A Division, junior Telis Athanasopoulos Yogo as the skipper and sophomore AnaClare Sole as the crew, finished the seven rounds with four second places, two third places ....
Apr 11, 2021 NEW LONDON, Conn. – Sailing for the second weekend in its abbreviated season, Stanford collected fourth place at the Thompson Trophy. The weekend also included a heads-up victory over Connecticut College in the Camel Fleet Race Invitational.
Stanford trailed Roger Williams, Coast Guard and Rhode Island in the regatta, with its A-boat finishing third in its division with 41 points, skippered by Telis Athanasopoulos Yogo and crewed by AnaClare Sole. The B-division boat was sailed by Hannah Freeman and Marta Munte, taking fourth with 71 points. Athanasopoulos Yogo and Sole won two of their 10 races, and finished in the top-five six times, while Freeman and Munte posted one win and five top-fives. ....
