Victory Gardens were grown in nearly every spare patch of land in private gardens, public lands, parks, playgrounds and churchyards. Even window boxes and front-step containers became useful Victory Gardens. By the end of WWII there were more than 20 million gardens and these produced some 8 million tons of food. ....

Dr. Vogel retires from health agency, job posted

Dr. Vogel retires from health agency, job posted
Vogel has served in the position for the past eight years.
The position is part-time. A recommendation to interview Dr. Tim Miller, who succeeded Vogel in September 2017 as head of the now ProMedica Regional Hospital Family Practice Clinic, had some opposition from the board of health at its March meeting.
Now the job is posted. Vogel had recommended Miller. Agency health officer Rebecca Burns suggested board members meet individually with him.
Vogel became medical director for the agency in October 2013, succeeding Dr. James Philips. He held both jobs until leaving the family practice clinic.  ....

This came after Three Rivers went from full-time in-person classes to a hybrid two-days-per-week approach, because of COVID-19 infections.
Hoffmaster said it is a political issue “because parents want their children back in school.” ....
