LANCASTER COUNTY, S.C. (WBTV) - Quick actions by a Lancaster County Schools bus driver may have saved a childâs life, according to the districtâs Safety and Transportation Director.
Hettie Smith, the driver of Bus 68, was approaching a stop Monday afternoon when she noticed a car failing to slow down for the stopped school bus from Kershaw Elementary School.

LANCASTER COUNTY, S.C. (WBTV) - At first, a simple snack appeared to look like an Uncrustable, a peanut butter and jelly pouch.
Lancaster County School officials found some drugs inside them.
Bryan Vaughn, the Director of Safety and Transportation within the district, said THC was detected inside the snack during a weapon and drug scan.
Which Pa. schools had the largest number of arrests in 2019-20?

The Pennsylvania Department of Education’s annual Safe Schools report for the 2019-20 school year showed a noticeable drop in reported arrests.
Districts are required to submit their misconduct reports, both criminal and academic infractions, to the state every year. Reporting sometimes changes from year-to-year, but no changes were made last school year.
Last year, the top three criminal reasons why students were in trouble statewide were:
Possession, use, or sale of tobacco or vaping 8.34 percent
Fighting 8.14 percent
Minor altercation 5.42 percent
