KINGSTON The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the city’s tourism and accommodation sectors has meant a big drop in the revenue available for future marketing efforts, according to a report to city council.
The municipal accommodation tax, a four per cent tax on hotel, motel and bed and breakfast stays, generated almost $2 million less in 2020 than it did the year before. ....

KINGSTON City council unanimously approved a plan to allow some local businesses to defer their purchase of a 2021 business licence until late next year.
Local businesses that qualify are to be allowed to wait until October to buy a 2021 business licence.
