The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday accepted Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Miftah Ismail s plea and ordered recounting in the NA-249 constituency.
Lawmakers have been asked by the ECP to reach the office of the returning officer (RO) on May 6 for the recount.
The election commission had earlier today reserved its decision on the plea.
Happy to learn that PMLN s demand for a vote recount in NA-249 has been accepted. The narrow difference in votes of the top contestants necessitated this in the interest of transparency. Credibility of vote is a sure foundation of democracy. ....

PPP welcomes the Election Commission of Pakistan s (ECP) decision to order a recounting of votes cast in Karachi s NA-249 by-election and will consider approaching it for a recount of seats won in 2018 with a low margin of votes, the party chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari said Tuesday.
The ECP has accepted PML-N candidate Miftah Ismail s request for a recount in the NA-249 by-poll. In a statement, it directed all the political parties to reach the office of Returning Officer at 9am on May 6 where the recounting would be held. ....

The Election Commission of Pakistan has approved a vote recount for Karachi’s NA-249 and said it will be done on May 6.
It will be done in the presence of the regional election commissioner Hyderabad.
The chief election commissioner had earlier reserved judgement on the plea filed by PML-N’s Miftah Ismail for a recount. He had contested the by-election on the National Assembly seat vacated by Senator Faisal Vawda. The by-election was held on May 1. ....

Miftah seeks shifting of by-polls record to safe location under army’s supervision

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Miftah Ismail has requested the chief election commissioner (CEC) to take emergency steps for taking the custody of the NA-249 by-election record, which is currently under the custody of the police.
Miftah Ismail in his plea has sought emergency action by CEC to seize sealed ballot papers and other election material used in NA-249 by-polls. He stated that the election material should be kept at a secure location until the emergence of the final results of the by-polls.
He demanded the CEC to keep the election material at a safe location under the supervision of Rangers or Pakistan Army. He thanked the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for issuing a stay order on the results of NA-249 by-election. ....
