Earlier this month, Port Harcourt Polo Club was forced to call off the glamorous Niger Delta Polo Festival as the number of infections climbed on a daily basis, forcing the organizers to call off the 2021 edition of the annual polo fiesta. Polo Royals learnt that the nation’s premier polo club, Lagos has equally suspended its international tournament as the state government battle to contain the second phase spread of the virus. ....
The Lagos Polo Club’s Eden Project involving massive landscape transformation with tree planting around the club and its environs will not only create a world class environment, it will also re-create a new vista in the heart of Ikoyi, support and strengthen the climate and ecosystem’s resilience. Sunday Ehigiator reports The harmattan breeze which blew relentlessly from newly planted trees offered the occupants and the environs some cool and fresh air. The latest project of visionary leadership of Lagos Polo Club is already receiving a lot of accolades. There is a clear vision to create a comfortable and world class environment through The Eden Project, which is dedicated to massive landscape transformation by planting over 160 trees around the Club premises in its initial phase. The beauty of adult friendships is that very often you both know exactly what you are getting. There is often mutual acceptance of the fact that, invariably, personalities have already been formed and are unlikely to change significantly. Even in polo circles, our friendship was a mystery to many. Dapo started riding horses and playing Polo from a young age. I had turned 30 before I ever climbed a horse. Dapo was already the highest handicapped polo player from Southern Nigeria before I ever climbed a horse. He watched me learn how to ride a horse at the Lagos Polo Club and he watched me carry a polo stick for the first time. ....
Views: Visits 309 Many who had looked forward to paying their final respects to late polo buff and socialite, Dapo Ojora, were hugely disappointed as the funeral which was earlier scheduled to take place today got cancelled. The funeral service was supposed to be live streamed on Youtube due to the Covid-19 pandemic. No reason was given for the cancellation and rescheduling but a new date has now been fixed for the final funeral rites which will take place on Tuesday December 22nd at the same venue, The Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina at 11pm. While thanking friends and well wishers who attended his service of songs at the Lagos Polo Club, Ikoyi, Dapo’s only sister, Toyin Saraki, wife to the former senate president, Bukola Saraki now the eldest of the two Ojora offsprings, took to her twitter page to make the announcement of the cancellation and the the new funeral date. ....
