Police spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana speaking to News 1st said two armed men had visited the private financial firm wearing full face helmets, threatened the employees and committed the robbery. Evidence will be ascertained to determine the identities of the suspect, he added and investigations are underway to locate and arrest them. Sri Lanka Police urged the owners and employees of financial firms to pay close attention to their security as there is a rise in such crimes across the country. ....

The suspect was identified as a 27-year-old Kavidu Madushan who was initially arrested over an offense related to the dangerous drugs ordinance. He told the Daily Mirror that the programme scheduled to be launched will be from January 1. Sri Lanka Police and the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) will join the rehearsal today, he said.
