These are unofficial results for all contested races in the recent special election in Curry County. As it stands, voter turnout in the county was around 25% with 4,762 ballots received out of 18,632 registered voters. Election results are made official twenty days after election day, May 18. Southwestern Community College Board, Position 5 Maria Sudduth won the race with 60.96% of the vote. She beat out Ronn Johnson, who obtained 38.54% of the 3,376 total votes. South Coast Education Service District, Director, Position 7, At-large Marie Simmonds beat out Ronn Johnson, winning 61.22% of the 3,329 total votes. Curry Health District, Director, Position 2 Derral Hawthorne won the position with 59.18% of the vote. Hawthorne beat out John Connor and Richard Burton II, who received 26.33% and 13.89% of 1,656 total votes, respectively. ....
