Bangalore Development Authority (
BDA) is yet to collect Rs 40 crore dues in rent from shops located in its complexes across the city, leading to a severe loss of revenue for the department.
According to BDA chairman
SR Vishwanath, shop owners in
Indiranagar shopping complexes are yet to pay Rs 14.4 crore rent pending for the last few years. Similarly, a few shop owners from HSR layout have not paid rent amounting to Rs 10 crore.
BDA officials claim that they are unable to collect the dues as a few defaulters have already vacated the premises and have provided wrong numbers and are untraceable.
