Rawalpindi: The speakers at a ‘mushaira’ in connection with Burhan Wani’s 5th martyrdom anniversary at Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) expressing solidarity with oppressed people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K) unanimously declared that the internationally recognised disputed territory of IIOJ&K has witnessed an upsurge in Indian state-sponsored draconian oppressive laws and amendments against the innocent Kashmiri people to further suppress and deprive them of their basic human rights, says a press release.

RAWALPINDI: The week-long unique and impressive exhibition of ancient Quranic manuscripts and works of Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) Era, organised by Punjab Arts Council and Khaneh Farhang Iran, was concluded at Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) here Wednesday with an impressive moment of heavy attendance by art lovers of ancient Islamic calligraphy. The exhibition also contained 700-year-old Quranic manuscripts besides masterpieces of art works by renowned calligraphist Muhammad Azeem Iqbal.
Senior Vice President Pakistan Muslim League (Q) Zeba Naz graced the ceremony as the chief guest who visited the exhibition along with Naheed Manzoor and Director Waqar Ahmad. Addressing the closing ceremony, Zeba Naz said that the exhibition of manuscripts of Holy Quran was a source of spiritual joy and a manifestation of the common property of Muslims. Minister of State for Climate Change Zartaj Gul has said that political phobia completely dominates television, which can be replaced by artists’ creative talent to promote the country’s unique and diverse culture.
“Most media channels focus on politics with total disregard for entertainment content, depriving the national talent of opportunities to flourish,” she said while addressing a prize distribution ceremony of the Punjab Talent Hunt competitions at the Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) on Wednesday.
Gul maintained that there is a lack of quality artistes in the country due to a lack of opportunities, stating that the government will provide all possible facilitation in that regard. She hoped that these competitions would help produce new artists. ....
